Nordique media wall in Battersea: walnut shelving on curved brackets
The brief
A long media wall with generous display shelving for a large collection of books and objects, and closed storage below.
Designing a walnut media wall
Low walnut cabinets run the full width of the wall, with the TV set in the middle of the shelving above. The open shelves rest on curved walnut brackets, which echo classic mid-century design.
Slim brass pulls sit on the cabinet doors, and the shelves are spaced to fit books of different heights alongside ceramics and artwork.
This media wall was part of a whole-home project in Battersea. For the same house we also made the children’s bedroom, the boot room unit, the utility room, the hallway drawer unit, and the room divider.
Open shelves on slim brackets give plenty of storage without the big, bulky look of a traditional media wall.
Materials and finishes
- Fronts: Walnut
- Finish: Walnut veneer
- Carcass: Walnut veneered MDF
- Handles: Slim brass pulls
- Hinges: Grass
Walnut has a deep, rich grain that brings warmth to a room and ages beautifully.
Brass hardware adds a fine, warm detail against the dark timber.
Why choose bespoke media walls
A bespoke media wall is built around your room and your TV, not around standard cabinet sizes. There are no filler panels or wasted gaps.
Cables, speakers and boxes are planned in from the start, and the storage is sized for the things you actually keep in the living room.
Made in our South East London workshop
We work from our own workshop in South East London. Each project starts with a measured survey and 3D renders.
Heights, handles and colours are agreed before a single board is cut. And because you talk directly to the makers, questions get answered quickly.
Bespoke joinery in Battersea and nearby
Battersea is in south-west London, in the London Borough of Wandsworth. This project was in an apartment next to Battersea Power Station, with the power station right outside the window. We design, make and fit bespoke joinery across Battersea and nearby areas such as Nine Elms, Vauxhall, Clapham and Chelsea. We also work throughout London and across the whole of the UK, so wherever your home is, we would love to hear about your project.

Questions about this Nordique media wall in Battersea
Do you make bespoke media walls in Battersea?
Yes. This Nordique media wall in Battersea was designed, made and installed by our own team, and we regularly travel from our South East London workshop to work across Battersea and nearby areas. Every piece is made to measure for the room it goes into. We also work throughout London and across the whole of the UK, so wherever you are, we would be happy to talk about your project.
Can a media wall hide cables and AV equipment?
Yes. We plan cable routes, sockets and ventilation at design stage, so the TV, speakers and boxes are connected neatly with no wires on show, and equipment cupboards can breathe.
How long does a bespoke media wall take?
It depends on what stage your home is at. If everything is ready, design to fitting usually takes around 1 to 2 months, and sometimes we can have it made and fitted in the same month you first come to us. Once we know more about your project, we will talk the dates through with you and agree them together.
Can a media wall include open shelving for books?
Yes. We plan shelf heights and depths around what you want to display, and make sure each shelf is strong enough for the weight of books.
Which wood works best for a media wall?
Walnut gives a rich, mid-century look, while oak is lighter and more Scandinavian. Both are hard-wearing and can be paired with painted or brass details.
Client tips: planning a media wall
- Decide your TV size first. The whole wall is designed around it, so pick the TV before we finalise the design.
- Plan the cables early. Tell your electrician where sockets and AV points should go before plastering.
- Mix open and closed storage. Doors hide the clutter, and open shelves give space for books and display.
- Plan ahead. If the room is ready, design to fitting usually takes 1 to 2 months.
