Traditional bunk beds in Battersea: painted bunk beds with a matching wardrobe
The brief
A children’s bedroom with sleeping space for two, plenty of storage and a place for books.
Designing a children’s bedroom
The painted bunk beds have a built-in ladder and drawers underneath, with a bookshelf built into the end for bedtime reading.
A fitted wardrobe with framed doors sits above two rows of drawers, finished in the same colour as the bunks so the room feels calm and joined up.
This children’s bedroom was part of a whole-home project in Battersea. For the same house we also made the boot room unit, the utility room, the hallway drawer unit, the room divider, and the media wall.
This was a sixth-floor apartment, and luckily the building has a big lift, so we could bring every piece up easily. It was one of many rooms we made for this home.
Materials and finishes
- Fronts: Framed, painted
- Colour: Farrow & Ball Mizzle, with white beading
- Interiors: Egger oak-effect 18mm board
- Handles: Dark round knobs
- Drawer runners: Grass
- Hinges: Grass
A painted finish is hard-wearing and easy to wipe clean, which suits a busy children’s room.
Building the bunks and wardrobe together means the storage fits around the beds perfectly.
Why choose bespoke wardrobes
Bespoke wardrobes are built around your room, not around standard sizes. They run right up to the ceiling and fit walls that are not perfectly straight.
The inside is planned for the clothes you actually own, with the right mix of hanging, shelves and drawers.
Made in our South East London workshop
We work from our own workshop in South East London. Each project starts with a measured survey and 3D renders.
Heights, handles and colours are agreed before a single board is cut. And because you talk directly to the makers, questions get answered quickly.
Bespoke joinery in Battersea and nearby
Battersea is in south-west London, in the London Borough of Wandsworth. This project was in an apartment next to Battersea Power Station, with the power station right outside the window. We design, make and fit bespoke joinery across Battersea and nearby areas such as Nine Elms, Vauxhall, Clapham and Chelsea. We also work throughout London and across the whole of the UK, so wherever your home is, we would love to hear about your project.

Questions about these traditional bunk beds in Battersea
Do you make bespoke fitted wardrobes in Battersea?
Yes. These traditional bunk beds in Battersea were designed, made and installed by our own team, and we regularly travel from our South East London workshop to work across Battersea and nearby areas. Every piece is made to measure for the room it goes into. We also work throughout London and across the whole of the UK, so wherever you are, we would be happy to talk about your project.
Can you make bunk beds as well as wardrobes?
Yes. We design and make bunk beds, cabin beds and built-in beds, and can match them to the wardrobe and storage in the room.
How long does a bespoke children's bedroom take?
It depends on what stage your home is at. If everything is ready, design to fitting usually takes around 1 to 2 months, and sometimes we can have it made and fitted in the same month you first come to us. Once we know more about your project, we will talk the dates through with you and agree them together.
Are bespoke bunk beds safe for children?
We build bunk beds with guard rails and a fixed ladder, and make them to fit the room securely. We are happy to talk through the details for your children’s ages.
Can you fit wardrobes into alcoves or under a sloping ceiling?
Yes. Every wardrobe is measured on site and made to fit the exact shape of the room, including alcoves, chimney breasts and sloping ceilings.
Client tips: planning a children's bedroom
- Count your clothes. Work out how much long hanging, short hanging and folded storage you need before we design the inside.
- Go full height. Running the wardrobe up to the ceiling adds storage and stops dust collecting on top.
- Choose handles you enjoy using. You will open the doors every day, so pick handles that feel good in the hand.
- Plan ahead. If the room is ready, design to fitting usually takes 1 to 2 months.
