Media wall in Kensington: storage and display across one wall
The brief
One wall that does everything: hidden storage, open display and a clean, modern look for the living room.
Designing a media wall
A long white low unit with an oak top anchors the run, with white wall cabinets and an open white box shelf above. Vertical oak slats rise floor to ceiling at one end, balanced by an open oak and white bookcase at the other.
The slatted panel adds texture and warmth, and the deep blue-grey wall behind makes the oak and white stand out.
This media wall was made for a developer and fitted by their team. The TV was not in place yet when these photos were taken. See more of our work for developers.
Materials and finishes
- Fronts: Handleless
- Board: Egger, white
- Top: Oak
Oak is hard-wearing and naturally warm. It ages well and balances painted or white surfaces.
Handleless doors open with a recessed rail or a push catch. The fronts stay completely flat, which gives a calm, uncluttered look.
White fronts reflect light around the room. That helps in smaller spaces, and white pairs easily with natural timber.
Why choose bespoke media walls?
A bespoke media wall turns the TV wall into a piece of furniture. Cables, boxes and speakers are hidden. Storage goes where you need it, and the TV no longer dominates the room.
Made in our South East London workshop
We work from our own workshop in South East London. Each project starts with a measured survey and 3D renders.
Heights, handles and colours are agreed before a single board is cut. And because you talk directly to the makers, questions get answered quickly.

Questions about this media wall in Kensington
Do you make bespoke media walls in Kensington?
Yes. This project was designed and made for a home in Kensington, and we regularly travel from our South East London workshop to work across Kensington and nearby areas such as Chelsea, Notting Hill and Holland Park. Every piece is made to measure for the room it goes into. We also work throughout London and across the whole of the UK, so wherever you are, we would be happy to talk about your project.
Can a media wall hide cables and AV equipment?
Yes. We plan cable routes, sockets and ventilation at design stage, so the TV, speakers and boxes are connected neatly with no wires on show, and equipment cupboards can breathe.
How long does a bespoke media wall take?
It depends on what stage your home is at. If everything is ready, design to fitting usually takes around 1 to 2 months, and sometimes we can have it made and fitted in the same month you first come to us. Once we know more about your project, we will talk the dates through with you and agree them together.
Can you build around a fireplace or chimney breast?
Yes. Alcoves either side of a chimney breast are one of the most common places for a media wall, and every unit is made to fit the exact shape of the walls, even when they are not perfectly straight.
Which materials work best for a media wall?
Painted MDF gives a smooth, durable finish in any colour, while oak or walnut details add warmth. Shelves that will hold books or heavy equipment are made thicker or supported so they will not sag.
Client tips: planning a media wall in Kensington
- Decide your TV size first. The whole wall is designed around it, so pick the TV before we finalise the design.
- Plan the cables early. Tell your electrician where sockets and AV points should go before plastering.
- Mix open and closed storage. Doors hide the clutter, and open shelves give space for books and display.
- Plan ahead. If the room is ready, design to fitting usually takes 1 to 2 months.
Every home is different, so we always start with a chat about your space. Get in touch to talk through your media wall in Kensington.
