Nordique Loft Wardrobes and Walnut Shelving, Swanley
These bespoke loft wardrobes in Swanley are cut to follow the slope of the roof, making full use of the eaves in a loft bedroom. The handleless greige doors hide walnut-finish interiors, and beside the stairwell an open walnut shelving unit sits above a run of cream drawers. Every piece was designed, made and fitted by Creative Spaces in our own South East London workshop.
Soft colours and warm walnut give the loft a calm, Nordique feel.

Loft wardrobes in Swanley: making the most of the eaves
The brief
Turning awkward sloping walls into generous storage, without making the loft bedroom feel boxed in.
Designing loft wardrobes
The wardrobes are shaped to the roof line, with hanging rails, shelves and shoe storage inside. The open walnut shelving unit follows the slope too, with a built-in socket and open storage below the drawers.
Handleless doors keep the fronts clean, and the walnut-finish interiors add warmth every time they open.
The handles are cut straight into the doors on our own CNC machine, so the fronts stay clean and flush. We also made the kitchen for this home.
Materials and finishes
- Fronts: Handleless, with CNC-cut handles
- Colour: Farrow & Ball No. 274 Ammonite
- Carcass and shelving: Egger Natural Carini Walnut H3710 ST12
- Drawer runners: Riex
- Hinges: Blum
Walnut is a rich, dark hardwood with a beautiful grain. It adds warmth and a sense of quality, especially next to painted or pale surfaces.
Handleless doors open with a recessed rail or a push catch. The fronts stay completely flat, which gives a calm, uncluttered look.
Why choose bespoke loft wardrobes?
Made-to-measure wardrobes use the full height and width of the wall. You get far more storage than with freestanding furniture. The inside is planned around your clothes, with the right mix of hanging, shelves and drawers.
Made in our South East London workshop
We work from our own workshop in South East London. Each project starts with a measured survey and 3D renders.
Heights, handles and colours are agreed before a single board is cut. And because you talk directly to the makers, questions get answered quickly.

Questions about this loft wardrobe in Swanley
Do you make bespoke loft wardrobes in Swanley?
Yes. This project was designed, made and fitted for a home in Swanley, and we regularly travel from our South East London workshop to work across Swanley and nearby areas such as Sevenoaks, Dartford and Orpington. Every piece is made to measure for the room it goes into. We also work throughout London and across the whole of the UK, so wherever you are, we would be happy to talk about your project.
How long do fitted wardrobes take to make and install?
It depends on what stage your home is at. If everything is ready, design to fitting usually takes around 1 to 2 months, and sometimes we can have it made and fitted in the same month you first come to us. Once we know more about your project, we will talk the dates through with you and agree them together.
Can fitted wardrobes be built around sloping ceilings and alcoves?
Yes. Because each wardrobe is made to measure, we can follow sloping ceilings, fill alcoves and work around windows, radiators and doors so that no space is wasted.
What is the best material for wardrobe interiors?
Wardrobe interiors need to be stable and hard-wearing. Melamine-faced board (such as Egger MFC) is a popular, easy-clean choice, while a timber or timber-effect finish like walnut or oak adds warmth when the doors are open.
Can you add lighting inside wardrobes?
Yes. LED strips can be built into the sides or shelves and set to switch on when the doors open, which makes it much easier to find clothes and gives the interior a high-end feel.
Client tips: planning loft wardrobes in Swanley
- Count your hanging space. Measure how much long and short hanging you really need before the design starts.
- Use the full height. Cupboards up to the ceiling give extra space for cases and spare bedding.
- Add lighting. LED lights inside make it much easier to find clothes.
- Plan early. If the room is ready, design to fitting usually takes 1 to 2 months.
