THE BRIEF

Japandi bedroom in Beckenham: a walnut bedroom with panelling and a platform bed

The brief

A calm, warm bedroom where the wardrobe, bed wall and bed all feel like one piece.

Designing a walnut bedroom

The wall behind the bed is lined with framed walnut panelling, which flows into a full-height walnut wardrobe. A walnut platform bed completes the room.

The wardrobe doors carry black H-shaped handles, and inside there is a hanging rail, a shelf and internal drawers.

Materials and finishes

  • Fronts: Walnut
  • Finish: Walnut veneer
  • Interiors: Egger walnut-effect 18mm board
  • Handles: Black H-shaped handles
  • Hinges: Grass

Walnut has a deep, rich grain that makes a bedroom feel warm and restful.

Matching the panelling, wardrobe and bed in one timber gives the room a calm, joined-up look.

Why choose bespoke wardrobes

Bespoke wardrobes are built around your room, not around standard sizes. They run right up to the ceiling and fit walls that are not perfectly straight.

The inside is planned for the clothes you actually own, with the right mix of hanging, shelves and drawers.

Made in our South East London workshop

We work from our own workshop in South East London. Each project starts with a measured survey and 3D renders.

Heights, handles and colours are agreed before a single board is cut. And because you talk directly to the makers, questions get answered quickly.

CLIENT TIPS

Client tips: planning a walnut bedroom

  • Count your clothes. Work out how much long hanging, short hanging and folded storage you need before we design the inside.
  • Go full height. Running the wardrobe up to the ceiling adds storage and stops dust collecting on top.
  • Choose handles you enjoy using. You will open the doors every day, so pick handles that feel good in the hand.
  • Plan ahead. If the room is ready, design to fitting usually takes 1 to 2 months.
